William W. Marks
William W. Marks, 97, of Roosevelt St., Shenango Twp., passed away at 7:11 am on Tuesday (July 15) at Edison Manor.
Bill was born in New Castle on February 21, 1917 to the late Albert and Mary 'Stickle' Marks. He married the former Mary Ludovici, who preceded him in death on November 24, 2011 after 66 years of marriage.
Bill was a US Marine Corps - WWII veteran and an avid gardener. Having been gifted as a musician since age 5, he played a multitude of instruments and sang bass in barbershop quartets as well as singing The Messiah at various churches for 15 years. His family remembers him as a good provider and a very devoted family man.
He is survived by three daughters; Bonnie Ryan of Wampum, Lavonne Lyles and Kimberly Buntman, both of New Castle, four gandchildren, seven great grandchildren, a brother; George Marks of Orangevale, CA., and four sisters; Virginia Presnar and Marjorie Johns of New Castle, Katherine Fleeger of Butler, and Mildred Lombardo of North Carolina.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son; William J. Marks, four brothers, and one sister.
Visitation will be held on Thursday (July 17) from 5 to 8 pm at the Turner-Myers Funeral Home, 208 North Jefferson Street, New Castle. Funeral services are scheduled at the funeral home for 11 am Friday (July 18) and will be conducted by Pastor Cliff Reynolds of the Word Alive Church in Ellwood City.
Interment will follow at Castle View Memorial Gardens.
