Vivian J. Wirth

Vivian Wirth, 75, formerly of Shenango Township, but residing in the Presbyterian Senior Care facility in New Wilmington, passed away the afternoon of March 24, 2008, in Horizon Hospital, Farrell.

Mrs. Wirth was born in Ellwood City, Jan. 29, 1933, to the late Kenneth and Myrtle Clingensmith Lauderdale. She married Richard B. Wirth, who preceded her in death.

Vivian was a class of 1953 graduate of the Jameson School of Nursing and also a graduate of Youngstown State University. She furthered her education by taking graduate level courses at Slippery Rock University. Vivian worked as a nurse at Jameson Hospital and taught classes at Jameson School of Nursing. She taught practical nursing courses and medical terminology courses at the Lawrence County vocational-technical high school. She taught health at New Castle High School. She also taught nurse's aide and medical secretary classes at the Shenango School of Business and the New Castle Business College.

Vivian is survived by a brother, Kenneth Lauderdale of Savannah, N.Y.; a son, Jeffrey Koch and family of State College; nephews Donald Tripp and Michael Lauderdale and niece Connie Pollock and their families. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Beverly Tripp.

Vivian and Richard were active members of Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church of New Castle, until he passed away and she moved to the Presbyterian Senior Care in New Wilmington.

A memorial service will be held at the Clen-Moore Church on Friday, April 11, 2008, at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Chris Weichman.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the City Rescue Mission of New Castle in lieu of flowers.
