James C. "Bud" Vaneman
James C. "Bud" Vaneman, 84, died peacefully at his home on Winter Road in Union Township the morning of Jan. 24, 2008.
Formerly of Wayne Township, Mr. Vaneman was born in Chewton on Sept. 8, 1923, to the late James Clarence and Mamie McKelvey Vaneman.He married Doris A. Fehl of Ellwood City in March 1942. She survives.
Mr. Vaneman served with the 28th Division of the Army during World War II in the European Theater from 1943 to 1945.He retired from Penn Power in 1985 after 37 years of service at the West Pittsburg power plant.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons and their wives, Gerald L. and Karen Vaneman of Asheville, N.C., and James L. and Theresa Vaneman of Cranberry Township; two grandsons and their wives, Michael and Jody Vaneman of Shenango Township, and Christopher M. and Kelly Vaneman of Spartansburg, S.C.; two great-grandsons, Mikey and Bryon Vaneman of Shenango Township; one great-granddaughter, Tally Vaneman of Spartansburg; and a sister, Ida Mae Voskuhl, formerly of Beaver Falls, now living in Allison Park, Pa.Preceding him in death was a granddaughter, Tammy Sue Vaneman in 1987; a sister, Helen Griffith in 1981; and a brother, William P. Vaneman in 2007.
A private service will be held tomorrow at Castle View Memorial Gardens chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dennis L. Bupp, chaplain of Jameson Hospital and Jameson Hospice of Lawrence County.
Burial will follow at the cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Jameson Hospice of Lawrence County in memory of Mr. Vaneman.
