Harry M. Shaffer, Jr.

Harry M. Shaffer Jr., 75, of Evergreen Road, New Bedford, died the afternoon of Oct. 22, 2007, in his home.

Born Jan. 29, 1932, in New Castle, he was a son of the late Harry M. Sr. and Esther McCracken Shaffer.

He was married to the former Arlene Noggle. She survives.

Mr. Shaffer was a retired steelworker from J&L Steelís Youngstown Works.

He was a 1949 graduate of New Castle High School and graduated from Bowling Green University.

He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Shaffer attended the Word of God Fellowship in Canfield, Ohio.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Larry A. Shaffer of Boardman and Edward J. Shaffer of Niles, Ohio; two brothers, Oliver Shaffer of New Castle and John Tindall of Columbus, Ohio; three sisters, Audrey Douglas of New Castle, Jean Morrow of Harlansburg and Mary Frances Vaughn of Youngstown; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Lance Eric Shaffer in 1978, and a brother, Charles Shaffer.

Visitation is 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Turner-Myers Funeral Home, 208 N. Jefferson St.

A service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Pastors John Dobritch and Oran Telford of the Word of God Fellowship will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hermon Cemetery.
