Marion L. "Bud" Settle

Retired mechanic Marion L. "Bud" Settle, 80, of Cambridge Street, Neshannock Township, died the afternoon of Jan. 24, 2004, in Jameson Hospital.

Born March 26, 1923, in Sharon, he was a son of the late Frank and Minerva Haney Settle.

He was married to the former Constance L. Lombardo. She died June 3, 1996.

Mr. Settle had worked for the New Castle Public Works Department.

He was an avid NASCAR fan and formerly raced stock cars.

Mr. Settle was a former deputy constable in Mahoningtown, former president of the Columbus Club and a member of the Kuskuski Sportsman's Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Gierlach of Bessemer and Jeanette Norris of New Castle; a son, Fredrick Settle of New Castle; a brother, Fred H. Settle of New Mexico; a sister, Lavida Lemack of Massachusetts; 23 grandchildren; and 43 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by three sons, Stephen Settle in 1982, Joseph Settle in 1992 and Louis Settle in 1999; two brothers, Charles Settle and Russell Settle; seven sisters, Marie Davidson, Ruth Niedlinger, Eva Simon, Myrtle Fiegert, Lorraine Wellman, Loretta Slater and Hulda Schuller; and a granddaughter, Connie Settle Stewart in 1996.

Calling hours are 5 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the Turner-Myers Funeral Home, 208 N. Jefferson St. A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Dennis L. Bupp, chaplain at Jameson Hospital, will officiate.
