The Reverend Mr. John E. Scott
The Reverend John E. Scott, 89, formerly of West Fairmont Avenue, passed away the morning of Sept. 28 at the Cedar Manor Personal Care Home.
Rev. Scott was born in Pittsburgh on August 3, 1921 to the late Charles and Margaret "Sturrock" Scott. He married the former Kathryn Foulk who preceded him in death in 2000 and was subsequently married to the former Bertha Newton who preceded him in death in 1994.
He was a graduate of Meadville Highschool and received a BA degree in Bible and Religion from Bob Jones University. He was also a Alumnus of the Dallas Seminary. He served in the US Navy and was a member of the American Legion - Perry S. Gaston Post #343 in New Castle, PA. He was a member of the Evangel Community Church in New Castle.
Rev. Scott had been a teacher at Calvary Baptist Christian Academy in Meadville, a spinner at American Viscose in Meadville, and a Proof Reader at the Meadville Tribune. He was also a Chaplain at the former Almira Home. After retirement, he taught Sunday School at Evangel Community Church and drove a school bus for the Neshannock School District.
He is survived by two Sons; Bryan E. Scott of Mentor, OH. and Gary Boyles of Devon, PA., a Daughter; Joan Walk of Brookville, PA., and many Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
In addition to his Parents and Wives, he is preceded in death by a Daughter; Patricia Miller and his Sister; Virginia Locke.
Visitation will be Thursday (Sept. 30th) from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Turner-Myers Funeral Home, 208 North Jefferson Street, New Castle, PA.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm at the funeral home and will be conducted by Rev. Robert Stroble, pastor of the Evangel Community Church.
Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery in New Castle.
