Betty Jean Sankey

Betty Jean Sankey, 70, formerly of New Castle, PA passed away December 20, 2010 in Panama City, FL. The Lord called her home after a brief struggle with cancer.

Betty was born December 24, 1939 in New Castle to the late Chester M. and Elizabeth V. 'Strayer' Blake. She married her sweetheart, Arthur Ralph Sankey and proceeded to raise a family in New Castle. She relocated to Apalachicola, Florida after her husband and father's passing many years later to become a nanny to her three grandsons.

Betty was a graduate of New Castle High School Class of 1957. She enjoyed arts and crafts, gave of herself unselfishly and was the adopted "Grandma" of many locals.

She is survived by her daughter Betty Jean Baker and husband Keith of Port St. Joe, Florida; her daughter Colleen Ann Ciochetto of Ellensburg, Washington; her son Arthur R Sankey II; her brother Chester Morgan Blake Jr. and his wife Jayne of Gold Bar, Washington; her grandsons Jorge Luis "Gigi" Londono, Patrick Mattalis Cullen of Port St. Joe, Florida and John W. Baker of Coleman, Florida; her granddaghter Stephanie Lynn Baker of Red Oak, Texas; her greatgranddaughter Paris Lee Londono of Skaneateles, New York; her nephew Kevin Morgan Blake of New Castle, PA and neice Amanda Blake of Boca Raton, Florida; her step sisters Bobbie, Robin and Debbie; her stepbrothers Charles and Ricky of Pennsylvania; her best friends Elizabeth Harrell of Deland, FL; Margaret & Ed Carlin of PA and many lifelong friends.

In addition to her Parents, he is preceded in death by her Husband and her eldest Grandson, Arthur Manuel "Manny" Londono.

Services will be held on Wednesday, December 29th, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Castle View Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, 3010 Wilmington Rd., New Castle, PA. and will be conducted by Rev. Rex Wasser of the Epworth United Methodist Church.

The Family requests that in lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her honor to the American Cancer Society, or your local Humane Society.
