Dean L. Salmon

Dean L. Salmon, 80, of Smith Road, Volant, died at 9:25 p.m. Nov. 14, 2006, in Orchard Manor, Grove City.

Born Feb. 22, 1926, in New Castle, he was a son of the late Perce L. and Lola Slegle Salmon. He married the former Doris Slaterbeck on March 27, 1948. She survives.

Mr. Salmon was a retired machinist at Wheatland Tube. A World War II Navy veteran, he was a Gunnerís Mate and served in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Salmon was a member of the National Rifle Association and W.L.F.A. He loved to fish, hunt and travel. He was a member of Volant United Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Janice D. Ward of Gold Hill, N.C. and Beverly S. McGary of Volant; two sons, Kenneth L. Salmon of Mercer and Dennis K. Salmon of New Bedford; a sister, Thelma Powell of New Castle; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Calling hours are private. A private service will be conducted tomorrow at Volant United Methodist Church. Arrangements are by the Turner-Myers Funeral Home, 208 N. Jefferson St. The Rev. Ronald G. Naugle of Volant United Methodist Church will officiate.

Burial will be in Castle View Memorial Gardens.
