Ada J. Perry
Ada J. Perry, 99, passed away at 9:26 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2008, in Jameson Care Center.
She was born Aug. 16, 1908, in Oil City to the late Thomas H. and Nancy M. Johnston Reffner. Her family moved to the New Castle area in 1911.
Ada married Frank L. Perry on Sept. 1, 1936. He preceded her in death on Dec. 6, 1969.
Mrs. Perry retired in June 1970 as a custodian for the New Castle Area School District. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and belonged to the church's Recreation Center, where she taught needlepoint and crafts. She also enjoyed reading, knitting and crocheting.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Marlene and Richard Elliot, with whom she made her home for many years. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Lucy Reffner of Houston.Nieces and nephews surviving include Patricia and Carl Palmer of Niles, Ohio, Marian and Martin Ritter of Manchester, Conn., David and Cheryl Lutz of Cortland, Ohio, Tom and Kathy Reffner of Houston, Jud and Carol Clutts of Bradenton, Fla., and Douglas Perry of Towson, Md.; 10 great-nieces and great-nephews; and 12 great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.In addition to her parents and husband, Ada was preceded in death by two sisters, Annabel Smith Dinsmore and Anita M. Lutz; two brothers, Samuel R. and Paul T. Reffner; and a nephew, Walter H. Lutz.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Oak Park Cemetery. Chaplain Richard C. Nero of Southern Care Hospice will officiate.
