Sally Gwen Palmer, 70, of Knox Avenue, Union Township, died the morning of June 12, 2006, in her home.
Born July 4, 1935, in New Castle, she was a daughter of the late Homer “Pete” and Sara Kaufmann Measel. She was married to George W. Palmer Sr. He died in 1992.
Mrs. Palmer retired in 2001 from the Sportsman’s Bar and Lounge. She was a member of the Johnson Club, the Cultural German Club and the 151 Club at the Eintracht. Mrs. Palmer enjoyed cooking and collecting Tweety Bird collectibles. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Lehman and Judy Yoho, both of New Castle; two sons, George W. Palmer Jr. of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Gary L. Palmer of New Castle; a sister, Janice Sander of New Bedford; and four grandchildren, Todd Palmer, Scott Palmer, Johnathan Barletto and Kylee Gwen Barletto. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a a brother, Gale E. Measel Sr.
Visitation is 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the Turner-Myers Funeral Home, 208 N. Jefferson St. A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. Barbara Moore of Wesley United Methodist Church will officiate.
Burial will be in Castle View Memorial Gardens.
