George R. Magee

George R. Magee, 94, of The Meadows, Neshannock Township, died the morning of Sept. 5, 2006, in Jameson Care Center.

Born Nov. 14, 1911, in Portersville, he was a son of the late John W. and Martha Fulkman Magee. He was married to the former Hazel White. She died in September 1971. He subsequently married the former Elnora Shoaf. She died in May 2000.

Mr. Magee was retired from McConnell’s Mill State Park. He owned and operated his own farm. Mr. Magee lived in the New Castle area most of his life. He moved to Erie in 1977, then returned here in 2001. He was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church, where he belonged to the Friendship Bible Class and Over 55 group. At Belle Valley Presbyterian Church in Erie, he was a member of the senior citizens group.

Survivors include a stepdaughter, Paula Whiting of Erie, and three granddaughters. In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by a brother and five sisters.

Visitation is 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the Turner-Myers Funeral Home, 208 N. Jefferson St. A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Northminster Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Andrew Jillson will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hermon Cemetery.
