Harry R. "Doc" Hogue
Harry R. "Doc" Hogue, 92, formerly of Copper Road, Slippery Rock Twp., passed-away at 7:45 am on Monday, July 29 at the Beaver Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Hogue was born February 23, 1921 in Slippery Rock Twp. to the late Paul and Effie 'Dicks' Hogue. He married the former Ethel Black who preceded him in death on March 21, 1994. He then married the former Ethel Mayer who survives.
A union carpenter and farmer, he attended the former Princeton School and was a member of VFW Post #315 in New Castle. He was of the Presbyterian faith and enjoyed reading. During WWII, he served in the Army and took part in the Normandy Invasion and Battle of the Bulge, earning 5 Bronze Stars.
In addition to his wife Ethel, he is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers; Arnold and Lee Hogue, four sisters; Mary Wheale, Clara Calquhaun, Grace Freygang, and Martha Stuart.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, Wednesday at the Turner-Myers Funeral Home, 208 North Jefferson Street.
Funeral services will be at 11 am on Thursday at the funeral home and will be conducted by Rev. Dennis L. Bupp.
Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
