Elizabeth A. Heckler
Elizabeth A Heckler, 77, of Wilmington Avenue, New Castle, passed away on April 22, 2012 following a brief illness.
Elizabeth was born on February 7, 1935 in Potter County, Pennsylvania to the late Marsden and Mae 'Baker' Pye. She married Charles Heckler on October 28, 1961. He survives at home.
Elizabeth was a tireless volunteer for the Make a Wish Foundation, and past volunteer for the Lawrence County Women's Shelter, the American Cancer Society, and the Lawrence County Association for the Blind. She was active for many years in the local Women of the Moose, and had an adventurous spirit and was a devoted friend. She took great pride in her children and grandchildren, and enjoyed cooking magazines and travel; she travelled to Hawaii as recently as February. Elizabeth was famous for her chocolate chip, ginger, and sugar cookies.
Elizabeth is survived by 2 children from her first marriage to Carl Dahl; Brenda Flores (former wife of Angel) of Pittsburgh and Brad (Donna) Dahl of Hoover, AL., and 2 daughters from her marriage to Charles, Jeanne (Patrick) Walker of Cleveland, and Marjorie (Michael Bandi) Heckler of Pittsburgh. Grandchildren are Adam, Aaron, and Andrew Cangey (from Jeanne's former marriage to Frank Cangey Jr), all of New Castle, Jordan and Marcus Bandi of Pittsburgh, Andrew Dahl of Hoover, Allison Dahl (Benjamin) Diop- Frimpong of Boston, and one great grandchild, Leo Diop-Frimpong. Also surviving are sisters-in-law Sadie Pye of Hawaii and Audrey Pye of Bemus Point, NY, brother-in-law Robert Perry of Brooksville, Fla., and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her grandson Alex Bandi, her brothers Marsden and Clifford Pye, and her sisters Marjorie Brewer and Marietta Perry.
A gathering for family and close friends will be scheduled for a later date.
