W. Ruth Garbett
W. Ruth Garbett, 91, of Jameson Care Center died the night of Monday, July 23, 2007, in the care center.
Born Dec. 29, 1915, in Scottdale, Westmoreland County, she was a daughter of the late Emmett P. and Winifred A. Cafferty Clark. She married Charles W. Garbett Sr. on March 3, 1943. He died in May 1987.
She worked as a secretary for the former Johnson Bronze Corp. for many years. Mrs. Garbett graduated from East Huntington High School in 1934. She attended Carlow College (Mount Mercy) in Pittsburgh and graduated from New Castle Business College. She volunteered at Naples Community Hospital in Naples, Fla. Mrs. Garbett was active in her churches in New Castle and Naples. She was an active member of St. Camillus Church.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Winifred R. and Stephen Lange of Delta, Pa.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles W. and Carol Garbett of Ellwood City, and Emmett P. and Jacqueline Garbett of Pittsburgh; a sister, Martha Ross of New Castle; and seven grandchildren, Leslie Garbett, Olivia Garbett, Kelly Garbett, Michael Garbett, Jennifer Savard and her husband, Jeff, Katie Lange and Robert Lange. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Emmett P. Clark Jr. during World War II, John J. Clark and Robert T. Clark.
Visitation is 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Turner-Myers Funeral Home, 208 N. Jefferson St. A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow for St. Camillus Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. The Rev. Philip Farrell, pastor of the church, will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.
