Donald R. Watters, Sr.
Donald R. Watters Sr., 82, of Roy Drive, Shenango Township, passed away at 11:10 a.m. Sept. 20, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.
Mr. Watters was born in New Castle on May 27, 1929, to the late George and Isabelle Leonhardt Watters. He was married 62 years to the former Peggy Floyd who survives at home.
Mr. Watters was the owner of the former Watters Cemetery Memorials Co. Don loved golfing, hunting, baseball, basketball, walking his dog, and spending time with his family. He attended many area high school baseball, basketball and football games. He was a member of Third Presbyterian Church and a Mason. Don served in Germany during the Korean War when his National Guard unit was activated.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters and a son-in-law, Terry Watters, and Lori and Todd Gricks Sr., all of New Castle; as well as his grandchildren, Donnie Watters III, and Tiffany, Tyler and Todd Gricks Jr.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Donald Watters Jr., his brother, George Watters, a sister, Theda Armstrong, and granddaughter, Brittney J. Watters.
No calling hours are planned.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Sept. 24 at Third Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Michael Spicuzza of the church will officiate.
Interment will be in Oak Park Cemetery.
