William W. Brandon

William W. Brandon, 93, formerly of Wilmington Avenue in New Castle passed away peacefully at his Daughter's residence in Roanoke, VA on September 22, 2010.

He was born in Ellwood City, PA. on January 24, 1917 to the late William C. and Cora D. 'Marshall' Brandon. He was married for 50 years to the former Dayna Klisurich who preceded him in death on January 17, 1997.

Mr. Brandon retired as an accountant after 35 years with Jameson Hospital. He was a member of the Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church and was a Past Commander of the Perry S. Gaston Post #343 - American Legion. He was a WWII Army veteran having served in the South Pacific with the rank of Captain in the 41st Division, Company G 163rd Infantry. He loved canning peaches and applesauce as well as fishing and being with his family.

Mr. Brandon is survived by two daughters; Diane Ellis of Roanoke, VA and Sandra Gans of Pittsburgh, five grandchildren; James Ellis, Katherine Ellis, Michael Gans, Andrew Gans, and Christine Gans, two sisters; Martha Moyer of Ellwood City and Shirley Steel of Charlotte, NC. and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Brandon.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Sunday, September 26th at the Turner-Myers Funeral Home, 208 North Jefferson Street, New castle, PA.

Funeral services will be 11 am on Monday at the Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church and will be conducted by it's former Pastor, Rev. Velis Vais.

Interment will follow at Camp Run Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church.
