Bernard L. “Boots” Myers
Bernard L. “Boots” Myers, 79, of Etna Street died the afternoon of June 8, 2007, in Jameson Hospital.
Born Oct. 29, 1927, in Worthville, Pa., he was a son of the late John A. and Sara E. Keil Myers. He was married to the former Leora Mae Sherry. She died Oct. 11, 2005.
Mr. Myers was a retired foreman for Asplund Tree Co. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Myers was a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows and Castlewood Rod and Gun Club, and former president of the Lawrence County Conservation Club and 35-year instructor for hunter’s safety courses. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, fishing and baseball.
Survivors include a daughter, Anita M. Renner of New Castle; two sons, Michael B. Myers and Jason L. Myers, both of New Castle; two brothers, Harry Myers of Worthville and John Myers of Summerville, Pa.; a sister, Nellie Rankin of New Castle; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Wanda Myers; five brothers, Kenneth Myers, Albert Myers, William Myers, Joseph Myers and Howard “Pete” Myers; and four sisters, Arlene Stalhman, Florence Shobert, Dorothy Myers and Mary Louise Myers.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Turner-Myers Funeral Home, 208 N. Jefferson St. A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the funeral home. The Rev. Dennis L. Bupp, Jameson Hospital chaplain, will officiate.
Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the International Order of Odd Fellows.
