Michael E. Baier
Union Township resident Michael E. Baier, 41, of Atkinson Street died the morning of Nov. 23, 2003, in Jameson Hospital.
Born Feb. 10, 1962, in New Castle, he was a son of the late Michael S. and Bernice Houk Baier.
He married the former April A. Lusk on May 14, 1988. She survives.
Mr. Baier was a quality inspector for Ravenna Aluminum in Ravenna, Ohio.
He was a graduate of Union High School and the Pittsburgh Technical Institute, where he studied architectural design and drafting.
A barbershop singer, Mr. Baier was a member of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Singing in America, an AIC scholarship recipient, registered C.O.T.S. instructor, a Barbershopper of the Year winner, chapter treasurer of the Canton Hall of Fame Chorus and district secretary in the Johnny Appleseed District.
He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Audrey Adelle Baier, at home; a niece, Cheri Jo Ponziani; and a nephew, Chad Ruppersberger.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Marianne Ruppersberger.
Calling hours were 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. November 25th, 2003 at the Turner-Myers Funeral Home, 208 N. Jefferson St. A service was conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday- November 26th, 2003 at the funeral home. The Rev. Frederick Gilbert of Independent Methodist Church and the Rev. Barbara Moore of Wesley United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial was in Oak Park Cemetery.
