Donald I. Allison
Donald I. Allison, 80, of Copper Road, Slippery Rock Township, died the afternoon of Aug. 21, 2006, in the VA Medical Center, Pittsburgh.
Born Oct. 3, 1925, in New Castle, he was a son of the late Earl and Edna Armstrong Allison. He married the former Frances L. Young on July 7, 1950. She survives.
Mr. Allison was a retired, self-employed brick and block mason. He had also worked for Babcock and Wilcox Steel for 22 years. A Navy veteran of World War II, he served on the USS Thomas Guardia and the MS Rosknot. He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Donna M. Smith of Kennesaw, Ga., and Beverly A. Strand of New Castle; a son, Gordon E. Allison of New Castle; a sister, Marie Allison of Texas; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Rosemary Fry and Doris Palulick.
Visitation is 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Turner-Myers Funeral Home, 208 N. Jefferson St. A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev. James Hockenberry will officiate.
Burial will be in Mount Hermon Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donorís choice.
